City on a Hill

Greetings all

You are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Matthew 5:14

My inspiration today is taken from the above scripture, Jesus spoke this truth to the believers of His day and now there are for us in this present age, or time and dispensation.

Just by looking up we tend to notice things, especially a city on a hill, that would really stand out to the passers by, when their surroundings are filled with darkness. note this darkness can be gloom, worry, stress, sickness, anxiety lack, loss, death the list can be exhausting but, I trust you get the picture, anything that does not produce shalom which is a Hebrew word meaning peace, harmony, wholeness, completeness, prosperity, welfare and Tranquillity, if these virtues are not present then darkness has played it's role well.

We are reminded here as follows of Christ that we have been chosen by God to be lights in a world that is filled with darkness...the verses following the scripture speaks about not putting our light under a bushel but on a candle stick, thus letting the world around us, have the wonderful privilege to see what Christ has done for us and can do for them if they would just make some room available in their lives, to hear the good news of the gospel that is the power of God

Busy busy busy is the world everyone about their so called life and what seems important to them based on their individual needs desires and wants, but as the children of God we can bring about that important change of focus and direction to a lost and dying world, that they can and no matter wherever they are or what they are doing, make a course adjustment and our light will draw their attention and cause them to see our good works and by this light of Christ's goodness bring them to glorify our Father in heaven

Let your light do the drawing of humanity to the awareness and acknowledge of true Christianity

true light reveals things that are and would not be visibly, if there was only darkness present in-fact it exposes things that would otherwise be hidden, or excepted as ok or even the normal way of being or thinking and living.

Long exposure to darkness causes more darkness, and desensitization, when our conscience is seared with a hot iron there is no awareness of wrong doing just like dead nerves feel no pain.

A city stands out very clear people cannot but notice that city and be drawn to it, so good deeds kindness, thankfulness, peaceable disposition and good character, make you stand out from those who lack these qualities.

So be the one that will be honest, truthful, loyal, faithful, forgiving as well as compassionate

Stand out brightly for moral living virtues. There is a saying "any old fish can go down stream but it takes a live one to go up stream against the natural or popular consensus. This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 1 John 1:5

Saints let your light shine and be a city on a hill
